MINNESOTA GOLDEN GOPHERS
Minnesotas Tight End Talent: Meet No. 89 Nathan Jones
With just 89 days remaining until Minnesota’s 2024 season kicks off, Gophers Nation has the opportunity to feature tight end Nathan Jones.
In the Gophers’ 2022 recruiting class, Jones was rated as a two-star talent. He chose to commit to the team over offers from UTSA, Vanderbilt, and Abilene Christian.
Jones briefly committed to Abilene Christian before deciding to join the Gophers on October 26.
With three years of eligibility left, the 6-foot-5, 255-pound tight end from Brock, Texas, is starting his third season with the Golden Gophers.
Jones has participated in just one game throughout his first two years with the programme. He made his collegiate debut in the Gophers’ Quick Lane Bowl clash against Bowling Green last season.
This season, Jones will go up against players like Pierce Walsh and Sam Peters for playing time. Snaps will be available for Jones, Walsh, and Peters, but the Gophers will probably look to Nick Kallerup and Jameson Geers for the majority of the playing time at the tight end.
The Minnesota Timberwolves‘ 2024 campaign will be underway against the North Carolina Tar Heels on Thursday, August 29 at Huntington Bank Stadium.
